Publishing wallpapers to Backdrop

Want to share your custom wallpapers with the Backdrop community? Here's how to publish your creations for others to enjoy.

Before You Start

First, make sure you've created your custom wallpaper using the Backdrop editor. Once you have a wallpaper ready, you can proceed with the publishing process.

Publishing Requirements

To publish a wallpaper, you'll need to provide:

Category Selection

  • Choose an appropriate category that best describes your wallpaper
  • Categories help users discover content that matches their interests
  • Select the most relevant category for better visibility

Tags (3-4 Required)

  • Add 3-4 unique tags that describe your wallpaper
  • Use specific, descriptive keywords
  • Tags help users find your content through search
  • Examples: "nature", "abstract", "minimal", "colorful"

Optional Fields

  • Custom description - Add details about your wallpaper or creation process
  • Attribution link - Include a link to credit the original author if applicable
  • These fields help provide context and proper attribution

Publishing Process

  1. Complete all required fields - category and tags are mandatory
  2. Add optional information if desired (description, attribution)
  3. Review your submission to ensure accuracy
  4. Click "Publish" to submit for review
  5. Check Submissions view - your wallpaper will appear here with pending status

Review Process

After publishing:

  • Your submission goes to Backdrop admins for review
  • You can track status in the Submissions view
  • Review typically takes a few days
  • You'll be notified of approval or rejection

Content Guidelines

Allowed Content:

  • High-quality animated wallpapers
  • Original creations or properly attributed content
  • Content suitable for all audiences

Not Allowed:

  • NSFW content is strictly prohibited
  • Low-quality or corrupted files
  • Duplicate submissions

Possible Rejection Reasons

If your submission is rejected, it may be for one of these reasons:

File Quality Issues

Problem: The submission does not meet file quality standards. Solution: Ensure the file is high quality, free from encoding artifacts, and has smooth playback.

Content Quality Issues

Duplicate Content

Problem: The submission is a duplicate of another submission. Solution: This content is already available on Backdrop. Ensure your submission is unique.
