If your subscription license is showing as "Expired" in the Sensei app despite being automatically renewed, you can resolve this by deactivating and re-entering your license.
The Issue
Sometimes after an automatic subscription renewal, Sensei may still display the license as "Expired" even though your subscription is active. This is typically a synchronization issue that can be easily resolved.
Solution Steps
1. Access the License Panel
Open the license panel using either method:
- Menu bar: Go to Sensei → License from the menu bar
- Keyboard shortcut: Press CMD+B
2. Show License Details
- Click "Show License" in the license panel
- This will display your current license information
3. Deactivate the License
- Click "Deactivate License"
- This will temporarily deactivate your current license
- Don't worry - this is a temporary step to refresh the license status
4. Re-enter Your License
After deactivation:
- Re-enter the same license key you were using before
- Important: Make sure to select the "Subscription" option in the dialogue
- Do not select other license types unless you have a Lifetime license
5. Reactivate
- Complete the license entry process
- Sensei should now recognize your active subscription
- The "Expired" status should be resolved
Why This Happens
This issue can occur when:
- There's a delay in license server synchronization
- Your Mac was offline during the renewal process
- Temporary communication issues with the licensing system
If the Problem Persists
If you continue to see "Expired" status after following these steps:
- Check that your subscription payment was processed successfully
- Verify your license key is correct
- Contact support if the issue remains unresolved
This process refreshes the license validation and should restore full access to your Sensei subscription features.
