That makes it the liveliest pick in this section. The warm orange sky looks great behind a dark Dock.
Ellen Joe and Bagboo
Gallery credit: muri. Ellen sits out a rainy night under a convenience store awning, with Bagboo standing guard beside her. Only the two of them and the rain move, and the loop runs a long 45 seconds. It's an ultrawide 3440 × 1440 source, so it fills a wide monitor without cropping her out.
Hoshimi Miyabi Under Dark Sky

Her hair and the clouds shift a little and that's about it. If you want a Void Hunter watching over your spreadsheets without stealing focus, this is her.
Koleda And Ben

Koleda shifts and pulls faces while Ben stays put, so the movement is small and easy to ignore. The shop's white light makes it the brightest ZZZ scene here, which helps if your Mac runs in light appearance.

Hu Tao Winter
Gallery credit: revvy. Hu Tao waits on a snowy station platform with her little ghost, a train behind her and mountains in the distance. Snow falls and her scarf blows across the frame. It's the cosiest Genshin scene I found, and a good one for winter.
Liyue Lantern Rite Genshin Impact

Firefly with Female MC

The Wallpaper settings built into macOS cover photos, Apple's dynamic wallpapers and its aerial videos, but not your own animated scenes. Backdrop fills that gap, and every pick above opens straight into it:
- Download Backdrop and open it on your Mac.
- Open a pick's page from this list, preview the loop, then choose Open in Backdrop.

Will a Live Wallpaper Slow Down Your Mac?
Not in any way you'll notice. Backdrop pauses playback automatically whenever an app goes full screen, so a full-screen game or video has the Mac to itself. The rest of the time, the Backdrop page lists less than 0.3% CPU usage when running on a MacBook Pro (as of October 2026), and it cuts back further on battery power.
